Why Dread Full Truth ?

Dread Full Truth is all about true things hard to believe. I'm a skeptical guy, but all skeptical people has to be aware that there is a thin line between skepticism and stubbornness. The are a bunch of things that truly happened, but a few people actually believe it. Why? Good question. People don't believe because they think that's all sham, and the use this as a valid argument. Sham is not argument, is consequence of non valid arguments. It's amazing to see how much impressive things happen around us, and just a few group take notice. Well, I try my best to discover interesting facts (at least for myself), and let's be clear on that one, I'M NOT A SCIENTIST, but I share the same curiosity that pushes this guys forward to the limit. The diference is that they study science like priority, I'm just a guy who faces science like one of the most important things to push ourselves foward, but for me is a passion, not my life. I'm like Bill Bryson in a Short History Of Nearly Everything (an outstanding book by the way). Maybe this is a good chance to share it with similar people.
The truth is not always easy, actually the great truths, are the most weird.
Everything is just a matter of perspective.

Dread Full Truh é a famigerada verdade nua crua.

Os Mapas do Almirante Piri Reis / The Maps of the Admiral Piri Reis

Curiosidades:

  • estende-se no mapa até ao Rio da Prata, o que demonstra que navegadores portugueses já haviam visitado esse estuário em data anterior a 1513;

  • o mapa demostra que o seu autor (seja quem for) conhecia a circunferência precisa da Terra;

Piri Reis was as he was known that admiral ottoman, called Hadji Muhammad. The Reis suffix was added to his name because of his rank of admiral. Successful navigator, fought for many years with the Spanish, Venesian and Genoese navys, only being defeated by the Portuguese navy.

Piri Reis published in 1521, his knowledge in the book "Kitab-i Bahrieh" (Book of the Navy). It describes the islands and the Mediterranean coast, including references to maps previously known and a world map charted in 1513.

Interestingly, the maps of Piri Reis were only discovered in 1952 in the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. This palace was built after the conquest of Constantinople in 1453. These very old  maps were part of personal belonging of the admiral. Two atlases currently preserved at the State Library of Berlin, contains exact reproductions of the Mediterranean Sea and the regions surrounding the Dead Sea.

Once collected, the maps were taken to test mapping. The results speak for themselves: according to cartographer U.S. Arlington H. Mallery, all the geographical features were present in the maps, but had not been drawn in the correct places and forms. Thus, it was demanded the intervention of another mapper Hydrographic Bureau of the American Navy, Mr. Walters. Experts have transferred the data from the old map to a globe and modern encountered something extraordinary: the maps were rigorously accurate. And not just in relation to the Mediterranean and Dead seas. Both Americas coastlines, as well as the contours of Antarctica were outlined with precision.
The maps not only reproduced the coastlines, but how the whole topography of their interiors (mountain ranges, islands, rivers, plateaus, etc.) drawn with accuracy.

In 1957 the maps were delivered to the acting Director of the Weston Observatory and cartographer of the American Navy. This also confirmed the maps accuracy  of regions at that time, never dreamed of being charted, and indeed some of them have only been explored from the second half of the century XX.
Some people think, and when I say “some people”, I mean scientific authorities who are not mere belief, that the maps can be derived from photographs taken from very high.
This is the moment you may not agree with the photographs theory, because they are only a few people who believe in such a case. But those who say that this is not impressive, curious, and also is impossible to be, are refuting the truth against their eyes.

Another curious fact, is that the maps found are copies of other copies, it is not possible to determine the right time the original maps were made. But even so, if the copies date from the time of Piri Reis, whoever made the original, certainly did not sail through the most isolated and inaccessible corners of the planet.

Does anyone flew high enough for this? Were the maps pictures taken? Will any  crazy  and extremely talented cartographers sailed through areas that nobody knew, which were virtually impossible to navigate (as the Antarctic) and could have succeed on elaborate an accurate map?

Curiosities:

Extends the map to the River Plate, which shows that Portuguese navigators had visited the estuary on a date prior to 1513.

Marks the first time, the locations of the Cabo Frio ("Fryio kav") and Rio de Janeiro ("Sano Saneyro").

Map demonstrates that the author (whoever) knew the accurate circumference of the earth.

Map shows characteristics of the region and the coast of the island shown in the Antarctica where it is located must have been navigated at some period prior to 4,000 BC when these areas were not covered with ice.

Studies suggest that it showed accurate latitudes of the South American coast and the coast of Africa, only twenty-one years afterthe voyages of Christopher Columbus.

Himself he wrote in the Piri Reis map that concocted based on a collection of ancient maps, supplemented by charts that were drawn by Columbus.

His map is centered in the city of Alexandria, founded by Alexander the Great, soon made an important point of convergence of all the ancient culture was located and where the greatest library of antiquity.

Piri Reis on the map indicate that some of his source maps dating from the time of Alexander the Great (332 BC).
